Genetically modified ( GMO) food now exist in almost all processed food, Canola oil, Rogers sugar, corn, soybeans, and the list gets bigger every month.
The arguments for GMO are an easy sell. Instead of being at the will of weather, insects and many other obstacles of growing organic food,
The Bio techs'' answer is to engineer the chemicals into the genes of the plants.   Some of these plants have been engineered to be resistant to round up ( a strong herbicide ) why?  To allow farmers to spray for weeds and grass and the only plants left living are the GMO plants. Cost effective and easy to do. (supporters of GMO say) However evidence shows these GMO food sources enter our bodies on a cellular level in a way that has never been done before causing health issues and disease at an alarming rate. How to avoid GMO food ? So why not just label these new engineered foods GMO if they are so much better for the earth and people. Let the people knowingly decided which they would like to buy and consume. There are some countries leading the movement and making all GMO food to be labeled, or have banned it altogether. There is a movement called Millions against Monsanto because North America is behind, it has not been banned or required to label GMO food yet. Why are North American countries holding off? One reason my be the cost to manufacturers of processed foods, the other may be the funding by large bio tech companies like Monsanto to government officials in  the North America. This may sound a little like a conspiracy theory but ( click here )  here is a current list of US officials that also work for Monsanto. As you will see one of the more famous names Donald Rumsfield is on the list and a large share holder in the company.
