Life is too short to worry about it
Essential oils have been around for centuries. The Egyptians started by spreading oil and herbs on flat stones in the sun. The heat from the sun helped to extract the volatile pure oils form the plant to create essential oils.
High quality oils use steam to extract the essential oils from the plant but CO 2 can also be used. Essential oils are composed of super fine molecules that can penetrate the skin and enter the blood stream in several minutes. They are a highly concentrated plant extracts. It can take 1000 lbs of rose petals to create 5 mls of pure rose oil.
In the late 1800's and early 1900's essential oils were used as pharmaceuticals. This is one reason to treat them with respect when using them. The were used for their anti viral, bacterial, fungal properties as well as a host of other healing qualities.
Some ways to boast your immune system and help fight the nasty bug are to reduce stress, get a good nights sleep, eat lots greens and fruit and get some exercise. Essential oils can also provide some protection. They can kill air born germs that cause the flu, like Tea Tree, Manuka, Thyme, Eucalyptus Blue Mallee oils. There are also oils that can help boast the immune system by stimulating the organs, like Lavender, Rosemary, Oregano. Essential oils that may help you sleep are, Neroli, Marjoram, Hi Alps Lavender.
We have over 100 essential oils to choose from. Come down to our store, ask some questions, and we'll try to help. Let's all share our knowledge this flu season.
What a world we have created for our selves. Technology is always coming up with ways to make us more efficient with the promise of more leisure time. In our leisure time we can enjoy more tecno toys. When we are mobile we can drown out the annoying sounds of our cities with our favorite music, multi task while driving, watch our favorite show while on a bus. Technology is amazing.
How it is affecting our quality of life is still open for discussion. People wearing headphones have been known to walk in front of moving cars, driving while engaged with technology has proved to be fatal.
It seems in some cases we are so engaged with our devises that we lose awareness of surroundings. Luckily we have a choice to use them or not, but when we are at work or home they are part of our every day lives. All of these electronic devices drain our system and weaken our human core system. Why? They emit positive Ions.
Free Radicals - Positive IonsBoth positive and negative ions occur naturally in the air. However, the environment we live in today has far more sources of positive ions than in the past, creating an electrical imbalance in the air and our bodies. They are also called free radicals.
Free radicals are atoms, molecules, or ions with unpaired electrons, highly reactive. They "steal" electrons from healthy cells to neutralize their own charge, causing cellular damage, therefore they are closely associated with oxidative damage and the degenerative aging process.
Free radicals - positive ions, are active forms of oxygen, in other words: Ozone
Sick building syndrome is more common today than it was 20 years ago. Most homes and offices are built air tight and when the heating or air conditioner is running it causes friction which depletes the negative ions.
Positive ions can be produced by:
Bring on the Negative Ion Please!!!
Negative ions are created by plants during photosynthesis, fire from a flame in Soy wax candles, and by moving water—particularly if it falls through the air in a waterfall, ocean spray or shower, or is vaporized into steam when poured onto the hot rocks of a sauna. Nebulizer emit negative ions through a cool mist. You can add essential oils to receive additional healing benefits. Himalayan salt lamps give off negative ions when heated up with a light bulb or candle.
Large numbers of negatively charged ions in a room or in the environment energize, rejuvenate, and make people feel secure and calm. Research shows that these subjective good feelings are due in part to the relaxing alpha brain wave patterns that are induced. The healing effect of negative ions is so important that NASA provides a negative ion generator for astronauts after space flights. And many hospitals in Europe routinely place the units in sick people’s rooms, where the negative ions enhance the healing from burns and even help people recover from some forms of cancer.
